DLI Certification

Get Certified with DLI!

DLI offers three certification designations to drycleaners: Certified Professional Drycleaner (CPD), Certified Environmental Drycleaner (CED), and Certified Professional Wetcleaner (CPW). Earning all three certifications entitles a cleaner to the rank of Certified Garment Care Professional (CGCP). Each certification includes a handsome certificate, suitable for framing. The CGCP certificate is double-sized.

Each certificate includes a press release you can use to spread the news about your accomplishment. You'll also receive access to the certification logos for marketing materials.

The CPD program promotes the professional and safe operation of drycleaning establishments by formally recognizing those individuals who fulfill a predetermined set of requirements. To become a CPD, an individual must pass a standard examination. The cleaner is tested on various issues, including professional drycleaning procedures, implementation of prescribed drycleaning standards for physical plant facilities, and safe equipment operation.

Certification publicly recognizes and validates the commitment a drycleaner has made to operate his or her facilities in a manner that is professional and safe. Customers of CPD businesses can expect proven knowledge regarding business management, customer service, fibers, fabrics, and the drycleaning process.

The CED program promotes the environmentallysafe operation of drycleaning shops by formally recognizing individuals who fulfill a predetermined set of requirements. The drycleaner is tested on various topics, including environmental regulations, proper waste handling, occupational safety and health, safe operation of drycleaning equipment, and other federal regulatory requirements.

Drycleaners need to understand and comply with environmental regulations and controls. The drycleaner who has earned the CED designation has made a commitment to the consumer to keep abreast of the constantly changing rules and regulations designed to protect the environment and the public.

Certification publicly recognizes and validates the commitment a drycleaner has made to operate his or her facilities in a manner that is environmentally safe. We believe that one of the primary keys to promoting an environmentally-safe drycleaning operation is to first understand what an environmentally-safe operation is. Customers of CED businesses can expect proven knowledge of environmental regulations, proper waste handling, occupational safety and health, and safe operation of equipment.

The CPW exam demonstrates that your business understands wetcleaning well enough to process nearly any garment in water. DLI is your third party, objective rating source. DLIs CPW test covers best practices for maximizing cleaning power with a water-based cleaning system. Customers of CPW businesses can expect excellent results, efficiently and professionally processed in the worlds most abundant solvent.

Certification is a method used by many organizations to help maintain and increase consumer confidence in an industry. Since the drycleaning industry's continued success depends upon the trust of its customers, certification becomes extremely important.
