Faded Dress

Q: I just drycleaned a dress and it faded badly. I then checked the care label and found that it said, “Machine Wash Cold-Tumble Dry Low-Warm Iron.” I thought garments labeled as washable were also drycleanable. What happened?

A: The care process listed on the care label must be considered the most optimal method of care. Any mishap that occurs from an alternative care procedure is attributable to that process. Many fashions sold today are labeled as washable and may not be drycleanable. Of course, we don’t want to lose this business, so it would be desirable to set up a complete professional wetcleaning department. After this is done and with a little training and experience, a cleaner can be certified as a complete textile renovation expert.
