Shaping Neckties

TieNeckties are cut on the bias when constructed. This can lead to stretching or distortion of the tie with repeated wear and/or cleaning. Many neckties can be restored to their original shape with the use of a tie form during the finishing operation. These forms can be long, flat, solid, triangular shaped boards or two long rods that are open on one end and slide up into the sides of the tie. These tie forms help to hold the material taut during finishing, allowing for a smoother appearance. Tie forms can be purchased from most drycleaning suppliers.
